Inside Look at Iloilo Museum

June 20, 2009 by cadillakad

Iloilo is one of the many provinces in the Philippines that holds a great histroy.

Each landmark within or outside the city carries an interesting story that recalls the good old days and perhaps the dark ages of the past.

Allow me to give you a virtual tour of Iloilo's rich and beautiful history as I share with you my personal collection of photos taken from the

Iloilo Museum

.

Immediately after the entrance, you will be greeted by various sets of carefully preserved collection of statues and memorabilia.  Below is a photo showing few pieces of priest clothing and church materials dated years ago.

Iloilo is a home to many Ilonggo artists.  From musicians to sculptures, Iloilo is blessed with talented citizens.  Below is a photo showing one old sculpture created by an Ilonggo many years ago.

The Ilonggos are God-fearing people.  In fact, many ancient hones within or outside the city keep a significant collection of status of saints and other religious items just like in the photo below.

The statues look so lifelike that you can almost feel as if they are still alive...

They say that new history can be made without wars.  In the past, Iloilo has also become the setting for various battles.

Even up to the present, battles are mostly caused by greed for power and money.

Iloilo Museum has kept some battle gears and memoirs that can still bring back the memories from the past.

The guns and the weapons made metals and other heavy materials were still present...

Our ancestors didn't have the resources to buy metal-made guns with bullets.  But their bolos and daggers and swords were sharp enough to beat the Spaniards or the Japanese...

Even the simple perfect tandem of an arrow and a bow showed the true spirit of Ilonggo's bravery...

The photos...

Their home...

Their lifestyle...

Were more than enough to spell out what kind of life they lived, many years ago.
